Hi, I’m Heather! I’m sometimes referred to as slightly crunchy, as I tend to go the natural path with most things, but I’m far from perfect and can’t say I stick to that all the time. I love to cook and clean with as natural of products and food as I can find.
When I’m not working as a designer, you will find me hiking, boating, cooking, gardening, traveling or doing some type of DIY home project. I absolutely love the outdoors and would love to move to a warmer climate year round, but Long Gisland (said in my best New Yorker accent) is my home. I have a passion for traveling and exploring new places, but there is nothing like coming home to NY. My little guy and husband are my whole world and any second of the day we have down time we are doing something fun. They both also share my passion to be outdoors and travel too.
Being a wife. I met my husband more than 17 years ago. He really is such an amazing husband; I don’t know how I got so lucky. We love to go to concerts, take our little guy out boating, fishing, and being outdoors but we also love our occasional weekend away for just us time too. I’d say our favorite thing to do is travel as a family.
Motherhood. This journey has been full of laughter tears and the unexpected surprises. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, while being the hardest job ever. I remember everyone telling me before having a child, to just wait and see, you don’t know love until you have one. Well they were right x 1000! This little person engulfs my heart so incredibly much. I can’t even put it into words fully. I am passionate about peaceful parenting and I strive to make the best memories for my little guy. I can’t leave out my furbaby Mitch. He is a rescue pup and a mix breed of boxer, pitbull and mastiff. He’s such a sweet boy!
And that leads me to my design. I have always loved everything design. I first took 2 years of fashion appeal design classes at a local vocational school and then went to college for interior design. As a child, I would change my room around 4-5 times a year. Always making a better floor plan and layout, changing the paint colors and my bedding. While my friends were buying clothes and makeup with their after school job pay checks, I was buying bedding and window treatments. It’s always been a passion for me and brings me such happiness. I still suffer from my obsession to rearrange rooms, but I try to keep it limited to Christmas when we put up the trees in several rooms. I make my husband a little nutty if I do It more than that 😉 I am a huge DIY’er and I love tackling new projects I’ve never done before. I find painting and tearing down wallpaper therapeutic as strange as that sounds.
I decided to start a blog to share with the world the ups and downs of an average families life. We are far from perfect but we sure do like to have fun. I want to write about my life, and hopefully that will cross paths with your life. The daily experiences that make me laugh, or have me taking the long way home just so I can decompress and listen to some good tunes. My trials in life, large and small, that all families deal with.
I’m so happy to have you here! Thanks for following along!
